Raise The Roof #2

 Rooftop Neighborhood Block Parties Continue
At Denver FilmCenter
DENVER – The next two neighborhood block parties presented by the Denver Film Society will take place July 12 and August 9 from 5-9 p.m. atop the Lowenstein CulturePlex, 2510 E. Colfax, home to the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax, Tattered Cover and Twist & Shout.

RAISE THE ROOF #2 will showcase the winner of Denver Comic Con’s battle of the bands, Death of the Arcade, along with local favorites Fairchildren and Tom Hagerman, multi-instrumentalist with local genre-bending band, DeVotchKa, legendary Denver MC Sid Pink, will emcee the proceedings.

Food and drink will be available for purchase from area restaurants.

“Our first RAISE THE ROOF block party was an incredible evening of music, food, drink and the best view of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains,” said said Ryan Oestreich, director of the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax.  “We hosted 700 people – of all ages – and even a few dogs for what we believe is on its way to becoming a tradition for the FilmCenter’s neighbors and friends.”

The CulturePlex rooftop opens at 5 p.m., music begins at 6 p.m.  Attendees will be given an invitation for a free feature film screening at 9 p.m. on the evening of the party or have the option to return for a film on a future day at the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax theaters.

Founded in 1978, the Denver Film Society sponsors Film on the Rocks and the Starz Denver Film Festival, along with many special film series and educational programs.   A non-profit organization, the Society has 2500 members and is the only nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, life-altering relationship with and understanding of film and film culture.
