Historic Places Traveling Film Tour

     Colorado Preservation Inc.’s Most Endangered Places Program and Share and the Care Colorado will be kicking off a Historic Places Traveling Film Tour beginning July 13th. The film tour will be showing Havey Production’s “Centennial Statehouse: Colorado’s Greatest Treasure” at various historic sites throughout the state. The tour’s mission is promote the benefits of historic preservation, educate communities on the current structural issues the State Capitol is facing and its effects on preservation funding statewide, and highlight historic theatres and sites through cultural tourism.

Details:

• Ticket prices will be a $10.00 donation which will go towards Colorado’s Most Endangered Places Program.  Before the showing a representative involved in the efforts and advocacy of the site will discuss preservation efforts in the relative community and its benefits – this may be a community member, building owner, or Endangered Places Program Coordinator, Rachel Parris.
• We will then show the film, followed by a presentation from representative from the Share in the Care Colorado Campaign addressing the critical need for all Coloradoans to be involved with efforts to restore our State Capitol while preserving the State Historical Fund, which will allow for future preservation projects across the state to have a better chance at funding. There will be a chance to donate at the end and, “Centennial Statehouse,” will be for sale (a portion of the DVD sales goes to the Share in the Care Campaign).

About the Film

Crowning the summit of Brown’s Bluff in the heart of Denver, the Colorado Capitol Building is among the great architectural treasures of the American West. As a living historic museum and active seat of government, the Capitol provides a telling reflection of the people and politics that shaped Colorado amid interest as diverse as its landscape. That story is told in Havey Productions “Centennial Statehouse: Colorado’s Greatest Treasure”.
