Ninja Sex Party / Fillmore Auditorium / September 23

Chart-Topping Comedy Band Ninja Sex Party Announce “Rock Hard 2017” U.S. Tour
Fillmore Auditorium
Saturday, September 23
Showtime 8:00 pm / Doors 7:00 pm

Chart-topping comedy band Ninja Sex Party has announced a slate of live dates for their “Rock Hard 2017” U.S. tour. Gearing up to release two full-length albums in 2017, the band recently released their first new song in over a year, “Cool Patrol,” hitting #1 on the iTunes Comedy chart, with the official music video racking up more than 1,000,000 views in the first week alone. Fans can view the “Cool Patrol” video on the band’s YouTube channel and purchase the single at iTunes.

As a band, Ninja Sex Party has but one goal: to take your body sweetly by the hand and then rock its face off with amazing music. Led by frontman Danny Sexbang, the band’s tender-yet-firm, sensual-yet-masculine, total-horndog-yet-somehow-not-creepy-about-it singer, Ninja Sex Party is rounded out on keyboards by Danny’s best friend and roommate Ninja Brian, the ultimate martial arts champion/electronic music enthusiast. The duo will be joined on the road and backed by TWRP, an elite squad of rock stars from Canada, space, and/or the future.

“This is clearly going to be the best rock tour of all time,” says NSP frontman Danny Sexbang. “And if all these shows don’t sell out within 5 minutes, Ninja Brian will eat his own face on live TV.” Sexbang’s partner, Ninja Brian, could not be reached for comment.

Ninja Sex Party’s three original comedy albums NSFWStrawberries and Cream, and Attitude City are “a master class in rad dick jokes set to even radder music” and “definitely great albums to bone to”, according to Sexbang. Additionally, the band’s cover album Under the Covers, which reached #9 on the Billboard Rock Chart, takes listeners on a “totally epic” tour of NSP’s favorite songs from the 1970’s and 80’s, such as “Take On Me”, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”, and “Rock With You”.

In real life, Danny Sexbang and Ninja Brian are Los Angeles-based musicians, comedians, and YouTubers Dan Avidan and Brian Wecht. Dan is one of the co-stars of the gaming channelGame Grumps, which has almost four million subscribers, and Brian is a former theoretical physicist who left a professorship to work on Ninja Sex Party full time. Since Ninja Sex Party’s inception in 2009, the band has performed sold-out shows coast to coast, released more than 30 music videos, garnered just under a million YouTube subscribers, and was named one of the Top Ten Sex Artists in Australia by Spotify.

The show features 38 classic hits – including “I Walk The Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and the title tune –and paints a musical portrait of The Man in Black that is a foot-stompin’, crowd-pleasin’ salute to a uniquely American legend!

Richard Maltby conceived and directed the only two musical revues to ever win the Tony Award for Best Musical: Ain't Misbehavin' (1978: Tony, N.Y. Drama Critics, Outer Critics, Drama Desk Awards, also Tony Award for Best Director) and Fosse (1999: Tony, Outer Critics, Drama Desk Awards). He was director/co-lyricist for the American version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song and Dance, (1986) starring Bernadette Peters. The Holy Ghost Repair Service

Photo courtesy Denver Public Library Western History Collection
Charles McPheeters was a former nightclub entertainer who converted to Christianity in 1965 and, with his wife Judy, became a leader in the emerging Jesus People Movement. From 1972-1975, Charles and Judy McPheeters operated a multi-phased street ministry called The Holy Ghost Repair Service out of The Paraclete Bookstore and the Planet Jerusalem Coffeehouse in Denver, Colorado, later known as the Oasis of Hollywood. They also published a street paper, called The End Times.

Charles McPheeters album entitled “Faces” is considered a Christian music classic. He died of cancer in 1982 at the age of 38. His commitment to take the Gospel to addicts, prostitutes, and street people is a legacy that continues today in the ongoing work of Charles’ widow Judy, and her husband, Ron Radachy at the Oasis of Hollywood.
