Colorado Children's Book Festival

Less a performance-oriented event than a celebration of childhood reading, this inaugural fest — sponsored by the mighty Tattered Cover book stores — zeroes in on middle grade books and authors, but subsequent years will include picture books, according to organizers. With its partners at OMG BookFest! this free gathering brings games, activities, readings and meetings to the Tattered Cover on East Colfax Avenue. Authors include David Bowles, Julia DeVillers, Stuart Gibbs, Shannon Hale, Varian Johnson, Sarah Mlynowski, Brandon Mull, Lauren Myracle, Courtney Sheinmel and many others. Vintage Theatre presents Bullets Over Broadway

Vintage Theatre presents
Bullets Over Broadway the Musical
by Woody Allen
Directed by John Ashton

A REGIONAL PREMIERE!
April 13 through May 27, 2018

This musical comedy hit is loaded with big laughs, colorful characters and the songs that made the '20s roar!  Based on the screenplay of the acclaimed 1994 film by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath, this six-time Tony-nominated musical features existing hits from the 1920s, including "Let's Misbehave," "'Tain't Nobody's Biz-ness If I Do" "Up a Lazy River" and "There's a New Day Comin'!"

Vintage Theatre presents the Regional Premiere of  Woody Allen’s “Bullets Over Broadway” April 13 through May 27. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays and Monday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St., Aurora 80010. Tickets are $19 - $38 and available online at www.vintagetheatre.org or by calling 303-856-7830.

David Shayne is a straight-arrow playwright who plans to stand firm against compromising his work but quickly abandons that stance when his producer finds a backer to mount his show on Broadway. There's just one catch, however: the backer is a mobster who sees Shayne's play as a vehicle for his ditzy, talent-free girlfriend. Throw in an aging diva, a savant hit-man and a bevy of beautiful chorus girls, and this is one Broadway show that is sure to knock 'em dead.

The cast includes Mary McGroary (Helen Sinclair), Damon Geurrasio(David Shayne), TJ Hogle (Cheech), Maggie Tisdale (Eden Brent), Michael O’Shea (Warner Purcell), John Gleason (Nick Valenti), Colby Dunn (Ellen), Adrianne Hampton (Olive Neal), Bernie Cardell (Julian Marx) and ensemble members James Bloom, Gabe Morales, John Mackey, Jenny Mather, Joe Lozano, Cara Lippit, Mike Martinkus, Keri Emswiller, Jessica Clayton, Court Clark, Kristine Bachicha, and Kaitlyn Althoff.

"Woody" Allen is an American filmmaker, writer, actor, comedian, and musician whose career spans more than six decades. He began his career at 15 years old as a comedy writer and since has received many accolades and honors. He has won four Academy Awards: three for Best Original Screenplay and one for Best Director. He also garnered ten British Academy Film Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In 2011, PBS televised the film biography Woody Allen: A Documentary on the American Masters TV series. In 2014 Woody Allen was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.
