Architect Richard Crowther's rendering of the Pig'n Whistle
Eddie Bohn's Pig'n Whistle sketch by architect Richard Crowther (the guy
who created all the great neon signs out at Lakeside Amusement Park).
Crowther was doing a lot of work in Denver starting in the late 40s or
early 50s, and much of it, like his work at Lakeside, entailed
redesigning existing structures (he was also responsible for the current
design of the Esquire Theater on 6th Ave). It's unclear what this Pig'n
Whistle sketch was used for, but one possibility is that Eddie Bohn was
considering a modernization of his property at some point and solicited
Crowther for a rendering (photo courtesy of the Denver Public Library
Western History Collection and Save the Signs).
