Colfax Avenue has seen a lot of changes since Hisashi Takimoto opened Taki's
two decades ago. And Taki's went through changes, too, including a
couple of locations and a variety of names: Taki's Healthy Japanese Food
Restaurant, Taki's Golden Bowl. After Takimoto passed away in 2009, the
restaurant got a new owner, Keiho Omine, and earlier this year, it got a
major renovation,
a new menu and another variation on it's name: Taki's Japanese
Restaurant & Sushi Bar. But regulars reported that it was hard to
find a time when Taki's was open -- and now, according to
Westword, it looks like it could be
gone for good.
A sign on the door reports that Taki's has closed.
"Given that the dining room was empty I'm pretty sure I wasn't the
only regular customer to turn around and never come back," says one
former customer.
"We all miss Taki-san!" says another.
And that ginger miso soup, which regulars swore was better than a shot for fending off the flu.
