Free tickets may be obtained at the Sie FilmCenter box office on April 11th
The Denver Film Society will host a Free Day on April 11 as a thank
you to the community for the outpouring of support received since
relocating to its permanent home on Colfax. Doors open at 1 p.m. and
films scheduled that day at the Sie FilmCenter theaters will be free
while ticket supplies last.
The lineup for the day includes three regularly scheduled feature films and other special presentations to be announced.
After decades of operation on the Auraria Campus, DFS moved to the
East Colfax location in late 2010. In 2012, thanks to a $2.5 million
gift from the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation, the Denver Film Society
was able to complete the purchase of the building and, for the first
time in its 35-year history, secure a permanent home for its year-round
programming. The purchase of the venue was completed October 15, 2012
and at that time, the Denver FilmCenter Colfax was renamed the SIE
FilmCenter.
“Our move to this vibrant arts and cultural hub on East Colfax was a
game-changer for the Denver Film Society,” said executive director Tom
Botelho. “A large group of community supporters provided leadership
every step of the way and the neighborhoods surrounding our new home
have welcomed our cultural presence. As a thank you to all of those
businesses and individual film lovers who have shown their support for
us, we want to say thank you by offering this free day of film.”
