East Colfax was home to Stop & Shop Super Market in the 1940s
before BK Sweeney opened there in 1949. By November 1956, the building
was home to Creel Automotive. Advertisements from 1933 show that the
address was once home to Joe's Battery Service, a supporting business of
the National Recovery Administration, which was established by FDR
during the Great Depression.
