City Floral’s Fall Festival

Saturday (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), October 19-20, Kearney & Colfax

Browse the multitude of plants perfect for fall and patio gardens; pick out a pumpkin, make a scarecrow, and start your own backyard chicken coop. Gardening classes, barnyard petting zooand food vendors.

Barkly Manor’s Dog Wash & Neighborhood Vendors

10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday October 19, Colfax & Elm

Celebrating five years on Colfax serving furry neighbors in Park Hill and Mayfair. This full-service dog daycare and boarding facility will host exhibitors such as Lori Owicz, an upcycling artist, the Women’s Bean Project, Denver Public Library, Denver Urban Gardens, SafeSplash and others in its parking lot. Does your pet need a perk? Tour the facility and enjoy free self-service dog washes Saturday only!

Wine-Making & Artists at The Cork House

3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, October 19, Colfax & Eudora

Ever thought about making your own wine? Watch The Cork House’s experts as they host wine making demonstrations at this neighborhood steakhouse with an extension selection of wine and cheese. The bar will be open, so stay to enjoy a glass of wine (prices vary) while shopping for handmade gifts by local artists on the beautiful patio.

The Power of Om (Colfax & Elm Street): Come by and check out The Power of OM, the new community yoga and meditation sanctuary on East Colfax. Bring your kiddos for a free kids’ yoga class from 11:30 am to Noon on Saturday, October 19. Following, everyone is welcome from Noon to 3 p.m. for an open house — snacks, and kombucha from Happy Leaf Kombucha, music and yoga giveaways!  A free first class will be given to all adult attendees for future use!

Pangaea Salon (near Colfax & Elm Street): Everyone is welcome from Noon to 3 p.m. at Pangaea Salon to browse the salon’s artwork, receive free product sample, and free kids’ haircuts. Coming Soon to Colfax: Mu Brewery

Beer lovers rejoice — a new brewery is coming to the Aurora Cultural Arts District.
Mu Brewery signed a lease on April 19 to move into the building at 9735 E. Colfax Ave., which used to be a hardware store and tailor shop.

Bystanders tackle man with gun at Denver Burger King

DENVER – Good Samaritans at a Denver fast food restaurant jumped to a security guard’s rescue Tuesday night, tackling a man to the ground after he pulled a gun on a security guard.
Police confirmed the incident took place at a Burger King near the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Kalamath Street in the heart of downtown Denver.
Witnesses say that after a security guard told a man to leave the restaurant, the man became a suspect, pulling out a gun and pointing it at the guard. That’s when onlookers reportedly stepped in.
“Me and some bystanders helped rush him (the suspect) and take him to the ground,” witness Joseph Sanchez said. “That’s when he was apprehended.”
As customers grabbed the suspect, witnesses said another security guard came to their aid.
“He (the security guard) tased (the suspect),” Sanchez said. “He (the suspect) was tased until he gave up his gun – until he stopped resisting. It could have been very tragic because there were a lot of family and kids around.”
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital in custody. Police said the man is a felon and should not have had a gun.
