The Colfax Avenue comic above was drawn in the summer of 1994 while
sitting in the "bitch seat" of Robin Chotzinoff's motorcycle. Robin and I
were traversing the entire strip – from Aurora to Golden. While she
interviewed, I made sketches of a person and/or a place at each stop.
Back in the studio, I drew together the place drawings to a singular
image that captured the character of the street. With the sketches of
the people made at each of our stops, I drew portraits next to the
street where we stopped and called the strip, "Hairstyles of Colfax." ---
