Original Aurora Snowstorm, 1972
(from Aurora History Museum Photographic Collection)
Snowed-in along the 9900 block of E. Colfax Avenue in 1972.
In the background, one of the old GM steakhouses. A chain of cheap/affordable steak joints opened originally around 1964 where you got a salad, baked potato and a steak for around $2.00 They were all over town, on 357 South Colorado Boulevard and also around 8th and Lincoln. The guys in the S Colo Blvd #10 store sounded Greek, and shouted / repeated orders just like the "Cheeseburger cheeseburger" guys on SNL.
